Notice To All Members Who May Have Been Impacted By Recent Bushfires

How can we help with members impacted by recent bushfire activity?

As with most people, we have been shocked and horrified by the extent and impact the bushfires have had throughout many states of Australia in recent times. But as we see with many disasters and tragedy, human spirit has the ability to rise above adversity by supporting each other and by displaying human kindness in time of need.

Have you been affected by the bushfires?

If the recent Australian bushfires have impacted you, our thoughts and prayers are with you and please know that you are not on your own as we are here to help. We understand that each Member may have different needs, and we encourage those affected to discuss their circumstances with us by coming into see us at your local branch or by phoning us on 1300 369 900. 

 

Financial Hardship Assistance

Family First offers a Financial Hardship Assistance Scheme to assist its members when required. Varying options are available to members suffering hardship and will depend upon the relevant circumstances and are reviewed on a case by case basis. We recommend that you contact us by either arranging a face to face meeting at any of our 5 locations or alternatively give us a call on 1300 369 900.

QBE insurance customers

If you have your property insured through QBE Insurance and you have been affected by the bushfires and need to lodge a claim or an emergency assistance support during this emergency evacuation stage, the QBE claims team is ready to help. QBE has placed additional team members to help QBE customers who want to make a claim due to bushfire damage on their property or motor vehicle. Please contact QBE as soon as you are safe and able to do soTo make a claim, call 1300 734 728 (lines open 24/7) or send an email to ficlaims@qbe.com with ‘URGENT’ in the subject line should you require any emergency support. Don’t worry if you don’t have your policy documentation to make a claim. QBE can find your policy number from your name and address.

Our pledge to assist the Rural Fire Service and its volunteer firefighters

We owe a lot to the courage shown to the emergency services men and women and in particular the volunteers representing the Rural Fire Service that are putting their own lives at risk by protecting our lives and property. They epitomise the true definition of a ‘hero’. On behalf of all of our members and community residents, we would all like to say a massive 'thank you' and wish you all the best in staying safe over the bushfire season.  

We would like to recognise their bravery and sacrifices made to date by donating $50 for all new members joining Family First as well as all redraw fees charged throughout the month of January.

How can you help?

The Australian Mutuals Foundation (AMF) has activated its emergency / disaster relief donations portal to be able to accept donations from the members of Australian mutual organisations. 100% of donations received will go to the St Vincent De Paul Society to help those affected by the bushfire, to help them rebuild their lives with food, clothing, furniture, other essentials, and funds to pay bills.
