Family First Credit Union Board Chair Colin Lenton visits Canberra to lobby Canberra politicians about great work the mutuals are doing in the financial industry

Singing the praises of mutual financial institutions down in the nations capital

This week, Board Chair Colin Lenton, visited the nations capital to meet with politicians to give some voice to the great work our mutual financial institutions are doing in our communities.

Representatives from 30 mutual financial institutions visited Canberra where as many as 50 meetings took place with MPs, held a Customer Owned Banking Summit with panel discussions from members, Ministers and Shadow Ministers, a regulatory affairs update from COBA and held a cocktail reception attended by the Deputy Prime Minister and other senior MPs.

A number of topics were discussed at the forum including matters concerning the burden of regulation and compliance, what measures can be done to improve the productivity and competition in the financial services industries as well as the challenges and opportunities post Royal Commission outcomes.

A busy week for Colin but no doubt a beneficial week as Family First Credit Union continues to get its name out there amongst influential MPs and media spokesman.
